Syed Junaid Pasha

Tell us about yourself.

I come from Hyderabad, India and belong to a well-known family having a political and religious presence in the city, which traces its lineage to popular Sufi saints. Sources of my knowledge are a blend of attending missionary school for education curriculum and, in parallel, learning the Quran, Fiqh and Hadith. After completing my engineering from Hyderabad, I completed a Master’s in Computers and Information Science from Chicago, IL, USA. I started my professional carrier as a Development Analyst for the State of Florida, and with a change in technologies, I transitioned into Cloud Engineering. I am currently working for a leading National Bank in Canada.

As for hobbies, I like working out, domestic and international travel, and consistently reading Quran and Zikr. I contribute to the community by guiding personality development and career building. In addition, I contribute to organizing religious events for Zikr majlis, remembering Allah, the most beneficent and merciful, and serving food and supporting charitable organizations.

What makes you passionate about cloud engineering and data security?

I like the Agility involved and Automating the infrastructure deployment through pipelines. Multiple services are interconnected, and I am interested in Simplifying, depicting, automating and deploying complex system architectures, Data protection by multi-layer encryption and transferring through secure channels.

What advice would you give young people seeking a career in cloud engineering and data security?

I strongly advise completing a bachelor's degree in Computers Science or a related field; learning programming languages is a must to become a cloud engineer and getting acquainted with cloud services like Azure, AWS and GCP. I feel that you need a deep understanding of operating systems such as Windows and Linux, and you must be aware of terms like IP, DNS, Protocols etc. Handling data comes with a big responsibility to ensure the safety and protection of data.

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

My Father is my biggest inspiration, the kindest, most thoughtful, generous and honest person I have ever seen. He would do whatever he could to serve humanity. By seeing his way of life, I have a better understanding of Islam, faith and connection with Allah subhanahu wata aala.

You have been involved with Masjid Al Fatima since its conception; how has it grown, and what has been your experience with it?

My relatives built Musjid Al Fatima, I have been volunteering at the Mosque since its conceptual design was implemented. By serving at the mosque and doing Ibadah, I spiritually connect with Allah, and also connect with a diverse Muslim community. It gives me a great feeling to have witnessed the whole construction and to see how the finished architecture standing tall; it reflects a unique blend of modern and traditional Islamic design elements, with its prominent dome and minaret that can be seen from afar. The interior of Masjid Al Fatima is equally breathtaking, with a spacious prayer that can accommodate hundreds of worshippers.
